Joseph Franklin Brumbach, 41, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at his residence on November 20, 2023. He was born on August 18, 1982 in Twin Falls. He attended St. Edwards Catholic School, Robert Stuart Junior High School and Twin Falls High School, graduating with honors in 2000.
Joe was a passionate reader with intelligence beyond measure. He read well over a thousand books during his lifetime. Even as an adult, he always had a twinkle in his eye whenever he entered a library or bookstore. His other passion was film and the film industry. From a young age, he knew he wanted to be a director telling big stories on the big screen. He insisted on staying through the final credits of every movie he saw and could tell you more about them than anyone. Joe went on to attend the Northwest Film Institute in Portland, Oregon, and later went to California to pursue his passion.
Joe was a kind, caring, and deeply sensitive soul. His big heart and childlike compassion brought immense joy to others, while also causing him to experience much difficulty and trauma while trying to navigate the harsh realities of the world. Even while struggling, Joe would always help others before helping himself. We are heartbroken at his early passing, and take some solace knowing that his soul is at peace.
Joe was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Merl & Margaret Bronson, Harry & Mebs Brumbach, Aunt Janie Brumbach, Cousin Jonathan Brumbach, and Step Grandma Myrth Merritt. He is survived by his parents Peggy Merritt & Kim Brumbach, Stepfather Allen Merritt, Sister Mandy (Avery) Harrison, Nephew Finley Harrison, step brothers Seth Merritt & Thad Merritt, Step Grandma Jan Brumbach, Aunt & Uncle Dan (Katie) Bronson, Cousin Jilli Bronson, and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins on both the Brumbach and Merritt sides.
An informal memorial gathering to share stories and honor Joe is planned for Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the Lamphouse Theatre, 223 5th Ave. S., in Twin Falls. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Joseph F. Brumbach Memorial Fund at US Bank for distribution to charities that serve people like Joe.
