Lawrence Merle Vancil, Jr.

June 4, 1948 — November 30, 2020

Lawrence (Larry) Merle Vancil Jr., age 72, of Richfield, Idaho, passed away at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho surrounded by family on November 30, 2020. While already suffering from stage 4 renal failure disease, Larry contracted Covid19 which left his body in a weakened state and unable to withstand having dialysis. Thus, succumbing to the toxins in his body. Larry was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on June 4, 1948 to Lawrence and Bella Vancil. He graduated from Modesto High School in Modesto, California in 1966 and later attended the Carpenter's Union Apprentice trade school where he graduated and went on to truly master the trade. He became a journeyman carpenter and then a FINISH Journeyman Carpenter. Larry was married twice in his lifetime. He and his first wife and first love, Martha Tubbs were married on January 1, 1968 in Modesto, California. She birthed two sons, Michael and Marcus. Martha was able to raise the boys into adulthood before succumbing to breast cancer on March 8, 1996. In 2002 Larry married Linda Jensen who he lost to a cardiac arrest in 2013 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Larry was a talented man. A Jack of all trades and a master at quite a few. He loved the precision work of carpentry and being a Finish Man gave him the opportunity to use his keen eye for detail and his patience for tedious work. His Finish job got him involved in his true calling in life...working with marble and eventually went from being a Finish Journeyman Carpenter to being a Marble Setter. But, Larry had many interests and hobbies, such as, boating, water skiing, model airplanes, model trains and landscapes, guns, playing the guitar and many more. Being a spiritual man and family oriented as he was, the past year proved to be very difficult for Larry, losing not just his mother but both his boys. Michael passed of lung cancer March, 2019 and Marcus passed from pneumonia July, 2019. His nuclear family had predeceased him. Larry is survived by a half sister, Terri Alley and six more sibling sisters, of which he is the oldest, Dianna Mayberry, LynnEllen Dillon, Karen Taylor, Jennifer James, Annette Moore and Donna Shilling, many nieces and nephews and his daughter-in-law, Windy Vancil, his twin granddaughters and pride and joy, Sarah and Ashley Vancil and Ephraim...the twinkle of his eye, the happiness in his life, his great grandson. Cremation is under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home & Crematory of Twin Falls, ID. A Celebration of Larry's life will be held at a later date.
