Lawrence "Bob" Barnes, 96, passed away December 17, 2020 at Edgewood Springcreek Care Facility in Meridian, Idaho due to Covid-19. Bob was born April 20, 1924 in Rupert, Idaho. Son of Herbert Barnes and Estella (Simmers) Barnes, Bob grew up with his six brothers; Ralph, Dick, Ernie, Zane, Max, and Vern. After graduating high school in Rupert, Bob joined the Marine Corps in July 1943 and served as a radio operator in the Pacific Theater. He was on the island of Iwo Jima, and witnessed the American Flag being raised on Mount Suribachi in February 1945. He was honorably discharged in December 1945. Bob married Janell Leamaster in Boise, Idaho on January 14, 1949. Together, they raised a family of three boys Dave, Don, and Jack, and were married for 64 years. Janell passed away November 2013. Bob married Shirley Noland on March 24, 2018 at age 93. They remained married until Shirley’s passing nearly a year later. Their year together brought joy into their lives as they entered their final years. Dad had a long career selling Monroe business machines for Litton Industries. This career took the family from Boise to Twin Falls; Billings, Montana and back to Twin Falls in 1970 where he remained until his illness necessitated the move to Boise in 2017. Bob bought Baker’s R.V. in 1984. The business was renamed R.V. Barn, and he ran it with his family until 2007. Bob was a long-time dedicated member of First Christian Church of Twin Falls. He happily served in many positions and especially enjoyed greeting people every Sunday, and helping with building maintenance and repair. Bob is survived by his three sons Dave (Lynne) Barnes of Boise, Don Barnes of Kimberly, and Jack (Robyn) Barnes of Twin Falls; grandchildren Matt (Nysje) Barnes, Charlie Barnes, Kody (Melissa) Barnes, Craig (Nicole) Barnes, Stephanie (Greg) Loos Barnes, and Jesse Barnes; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janell, his parents, siblings, and grandson Josh. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. All services and arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home & Crematory of Twin Falls. The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Springcreek Ustick of Meridian, Idaho for the wonderful care they provided during the time he lived there.
