Laurence Allen Goolsby “Larry”, age 75, passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Larry was born March 31, 1946, in West Seattle, Washington, to Jack and Lauralie Davis Goolsby. Larry moved with his family to Boise in 1956, graduating from Borah High School in 1964. He continued his education at the College of Idaho, graduating in 1968 with a degree in music. In 1969, he began his career in banking, spending 33 years with Idaho First National Bank, which became West One and then US Bank. He worked two more years for Farmers Bank before retiring. Larry was involved with Rotary International, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, United Way and many community events in the towns where he worked. After retiring, he volunteered wherever he could, including Kairos Prison Ministry and the American Red Cross. He was deployed several times to flood and tornado disasters, and enjoyed being a part of helping people during those terrible times. In January, 1974, Larry moved to Twin Falls, where he met his future wife and they married in December, 1974. They were blessed with two children, Jeffrey Charles in 1977 and Alisa Lynn in 1980. Aside from his family, Larry’s greatest joy was his cello, Willie. Larry started playing the cello in the 5th grade and continued through his college years. He stopped playing for several years, but found Willie again after moving to Jerome in 1984. He played for community events, church, weddings, funerals, and the Magic Valley Symphony. The highlight for him came when he was able to make his own CD with Danny Marona. He is proud that his music will live on through their collaboration. Larry enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting and camping, especially at his “cabin” at Big Creek in the Frank Church Wilderness. He enjoyed many trips there with family and friends, and this was his happy place. With his retirement came an interest in watching the Mariners and Seahawks, even traveling to Seattle to watch these teams play. Larry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra Gose Goolsby, son Jeffrey Charles Goolsby, daughter, Alisa Lynn Goolsby, daughter-in-law Traci Craig, and his very special, apple of his eye, ‘grandboy,’ Oliver Craig Goolsby. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Dawnelle and Craig Cleveland, mother-in-law, Addie Gose, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Garry and Karen Gose, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Marvin Goolsby, father-in-law, Charles Gose and nephew CJ Gose. The family would like to thank the medical staff at St. Lukes Magic Valley for their care of Larry during his illness. A special thank you goes to Dr. Jim Irwin and his nurse, Lori, for the many years of care and counseling they gave Larry. The family would also like to thank Encompass Hospice nurses, Laura, Aleena, Amanda and Diane for their exceptional care and comfort for Larry in his last days.
