Luciana (Tumparov) Smith “Lucy”

1947-2023 Tulare, CA - Jerome Idaho

Lucy was born in Naples Italy.  When she was 5 years old her parents and younger brothers migrated from Rome Italy to the United States through Ellis Island. After several years they settled in the Monterey Peninsula area where her father found a new career as an instructor in Bulgarian and Italian at the Presidio Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center “DLI”.

Lucy became a naturalized citizen at the age of 15, a very proud day for the Tumparov family since the family embraced America as their new home and were patriotic to their new country.

She is preceded in passing of her father Emil, mother Grazia (Troisi) Tumparov of Monterey CA, brothers Alex (Arizona) and Nick Tumparov of Salinas Calif.

Lucy is survived by her loving husband and best friend Charlie, aka Smitty of 55 years, as well as 2 daughters Jennifer Sanchez (Jean` Marc) of Acton CA, Amanda Westfall (Jared Westfall) Sacramento CA, three granddaughters Corrin Michelle Sanchez of Georgia, Natalie and Charlotte of Acton CA. Sister-in-laws Sue Tumparov (Alex), Arizona, Cissy Davis (George) Montana,

 Many nephews, nieces and cousins in America and Italy.

Lucy’s faith in Christ, Family, and her Charlie were central to Lucy’s core.

Lucy Graduated  from Monterey H.S in 1965 and went on to study at  Hartnell School of nursing of Monterey Peninsula CA graduating with a nursing degree in 1968. Her soon to be husband Charlie was serving in the Army, while home on leave they married July 6, 1968 in the chapel of the Presidio of Monterey, and for their honeymoon traveled to Killeen Texas to her new husband’s next station of duty.

Lucy nursing career spanned 30 plus years in several states in acute care hospitals as well as industrial settings. Nursing was a natural fit for Lucy, her tireless effort to comfort and help heal those in need was amazing, she was a very kind, gentle caring generous individual.

 A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Rd in Twin Falls.
