Mac Taylor Akins, age 79, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family on the evening of April 14, 2021 after a prolonged battle with congestive heart failure. Mac was born in Wagoner, Oklahoma on July 11, 1941 to Mack J. and Evelyn Burtt Akins. He spent his childhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lettering in football, he graduated from Wagoner High School in 1960. After graduation, he moved to Kimberly, Idaho with his beloved uncle. Shortly after, Mac met his future wife of nearly 60 years, Phyllis Hoover, at a dance in Kimberly, Idaho and the two were married in Elko, Nevada on September 16, 1961. They relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a short time, and then returned to Idaho in 1962. Mac was employed by Pepsi Cola Bottling Company for 33 years, where he became Route Supervisor in 1970. He was an active member of the First Christian Church for 46 years, where he was baptized on May 12, 1974. He served as both a deacon and elder in the church. Out of this union, they were blessed with 3 children and 9 grandchildren. Mac is survived by his wife, Phyllis, daughter Dawn and beloved son in law, Mark Jones, daughter Julie Akins, and son, Mark Akins. The joy of his life was his grandchildren; McKain, Mandy and Molly-Mac Jones, Monroe, Presley, and Preston Atkinson, and Kirnen, Maganne and Mirren Akins. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was very loved, and we feel blessed to have him in our lives for his 79 years. Also surviving Mac are his two sisters, Evelyn Reed and Donna Coleman, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a very special sister-in-law, Frances Denton of Twin Falls, ID. There will be a public viewing at Parke's Funeral Home on Thursday, April 22 from 6-8 pm. A private family graveside service will be at a later date.
