Martin DeKlotz

Martin Douglas DeKlotz, a resident of Twin Falls, passed away at home on Friday, January 3, 2025. 

Martin was born to Gilbert F. DeKlotz and Eleanor J. (Kistler) DeKlotz, on July 7, 1955. He was raised on the family farm in Filer. He learned all aspects of farming from his father, from tractor repair to the art of irrigation. While still in high school, Martin took over the farming and cattle-raising on his family’s land after his father was injured in an accident. He later rented his uncle’s adjoining land as well, cultivating over 200 acres. His farming career lasted 35 years.

Martin graduated from Filer High School and took welding and agricultural courses at CSI. He married Roberta L. Spry in April 1980. They had two daughters, Adrianne and Marla, and raised their family in the farmhouse built by his grandfather. His girls were his light and life. 

Martin was a skilled mechanic and could rebuild or repair almost anything. He loved learning and built models of rockets and planes. He enjoyed taking road trips around the West and nature photography. He was an avid story-teller and player of practical jokes.

Martin trusted in the Lord and was a member of Magic Valley Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Roberta, daughters Adrianne DeKlotz (Chandler, OK) and Marla DeKlotz (Oakland, CA), and sister Linda DeKlotz (Melvin Howard). He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 9:30 A.M. at Filer Cemetery, 2350 East 4000 North, Filer, Idaho 83328. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at Magic Valley Baptist Church, 400 9th Avenue North, Buhl, Idaho 83316.
