Noel Baker

Noel Gene Baker, age 84 of Twin Falls, passed away on August 21, 2021 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Noel was born in Tamarack Idaho on July 9, 1937 to Roy Baker & Emma Nielson Baker. Noel grew up in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho and went to school in Emmett, Idaho. Noel enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. He was deployed to Korea during his military career. After arriving back home, he met and married Doris Hoagland in 1959, and to this union brought 1 girl, Lana and later added Leisa and Butch. Along with arriving home from the military, he started his career with Idaho Power, where he worked as a warehouseman during his Brownlee/Oxbow Dams in Oregon. He also learned to Scuba dive and would clean out the fish nets at the dams, to keep them clean. Later, he was also called upon to retrieve accident victims. Noel later transferred to Hagerman, Idaho as a maintenance crew mechanic, where he held this position for 12 years. He then moved to Hells Canyon in 1978 as a Maintenance crew foreman and advanced from there to Superintendent in 1984. After the Hells Canyon work, he was led to the Milner Dam project as a mechanical inspector. Noel retired from Idaho Power in 1995, with 38 years of service. Doris passed away in 1975 and after her passing, Noel met and married Janice Lange Johnston on Aug. 14 1976. and this marriage brought children, Derrick, Gary, Annie and Susan. Noel was a truly kind, caring and very patient man, with the talents that many could only wish to acquire. He was amazing with wood; electrical, welding, and just so talented in whatever he put his mind to doing. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother and husband. Noel was preceded in death by his parents; Roy and Emma, first wife Doris, Sister Lollie, numerous uncles, aunts and nieces and nephews. Surviving Noel is his current wife; Janice Baker; Sister Maxine Drake; Brother Chuck Beyers, children Leisa (Dean) Williamson, Butch (Jennifer) Baker, Derrick Johnston, Gary Johnston, Annie Doyea, Susan Newhouse and grandkids; Patches & Shelline Williamson, Heather & Dalton Baker, Spencer & LaNae Johnston, Gabe, Luke & Ethan Johnston, Colby Doyea, Breanna Battis, Hannah & Mason Newhouse. Great-grandkids; Kylee, Olivia, Jerimiah, RaeLyn & Weston. A Graveside Celebration of Noel’s life is planned for the Snake River Canyon National Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho where he will be laid to rest with Military Honors.
