Orville Ray Lewis was born in San Gabriel, Ca. on February 28, 1940 to Bert Alvin and Grace Lewis. Orville was the youngest of seven children. He served in the United States Air Force right out of high school. On returning home from the Airforce he married his life-long love, Joyce Loraine Duffett on June 8, 1962. They just celebrated 61 years together on June 8, 2023. Orville and Joyce raised two children, Judith Ann Fox (Norm) and Kenneth Orville Lewis (Paula). Of the many joys of his life were his grandchildren: Kyle Kenneth Lewis (Lisa), Justin Chandler Lewis (Jessica), Chelsea Laine Fox, Spencer Ray Fox (Abby), Jordan Ray Lewis (Gabrielle), Sabrina Charee Lewis, Dessi Rose Lewis and Great Grandchildren: Brooklyn Anne Lewis and Warren Ray Fox. Orville spent the better part of his career working for Von’s Grocery in the Transportation Department. Orville’s passion in life was first and foremost for his faith in Jesus Christ. If you met him and spent any amount of time with him, you were going to meet his Jesus. There wasn’t anyone that he encountered that he didn’t treat like family. Orville grew up in the Del Mar Ave Church of The Nazarene which later became Rosemead Church of The Nazarene. Orville spent much of his spare time working around the church in various ways. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, and helped to organize a yearly Men’s Labor Day Weekend Jeep outing. He also enjoyed taking his family camping every year in the sierras and enjoyed exploring throughout the mountains. Orville’s family was his priority and his daily devotional and prayer life was evident of it. He would spend much time in the mornings praying for his family and spending time reading his bible. His love and desire for his whole family to know the Saving Grace of Jesus was paramount in his life and family.
