Pablo (Paul) Rodriguez, born on January 25, 1945, in Robstown, Texas, embarked on a journey that embraced the transformative power of faith, service, and family. A spirited and adventurous soul, Paul's early years were marked by a sense of adventure and a quest for purpose.
In the summer of 1966, Paul joined the Job Corps, where his innate leadership qualities were quickly recognized. Rising to a position of influence within the organization, the Job Corps became a pivotal chapter in his life, setting the stage for a future defined by service and devotion.
On April 22, 1967, Paul found a lifelong companion in Nancy Garza. Their union was blessed with three children, and together, they embarked on a journey of faith that would leave an indelible mark on the communities they touched.
Guided by the influence of his brother, Quico Rodriguez, Paul found solace in his faith. Together with Nancy, they lead the youth group of the First Baptist Church of Robstown, where Paul also served as a deacon. They affectionately termed the group “The Christ Addicts.” In 1976, the call to ministry led him to Rule, Texas, where he dedicated his life to spreading the teachings of the Lord.
In 1979, answering a higher calling, Paul moved his family to Burley, Idaho, and was ordained as a minister later that year. His commitment to faith extended beyond the pulpit as he served two terms as the president of the Utah Idaho Southern Baptist Convention. A church planter and missionary, he later became the Director of Missions for the North American Mission Board, leaving an enduring legacy in Twin Falls where he preached at La Puerta Hermosa.
Paul's impact on those around him was immeasurable, and his commitment to his faith and community was unwavering. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Paul leaves behind a family deeply grateful for his guidance, love, and support.
On December 26, 2023 Paul Rodriguez was called home to be with the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his brother and sisters, Eutiquio Rodriguez, Domingo Rodriguez, Peter Reyna, Arnulfo Garza, Jose Rodriguez, Rosita Rios, Manuela Campos, David Rodriguez, and his son Eutiquio Rodriguez (Quico).
