Richard Allen

Richard (Dick) H Allen, age 84, of Twin Falls, went on his last fishing trip after passing away at his home of natural causes on November 5, 2021, and has now joined his wife, Judy, in heaven.

Dick was born in Filer, to Mason and Gladys Allen on July 9, 1937. He was the youngest of 9 children. He attended school in Filer and graduated in 1956 from Filer High School.  Dick married his high school sweetheart, Judy Blakley, on July 3, 1958, in Elko Nevada and they were blessed with three children.   Dick had a very strong work ethic that he learned at a very early age and which he instilled in his children.   He was employed at Filer Mutual Telephone Co. for 40 years.  He had a passion for building and wood working.  He built smaller items such as Barbie doll cases and toy boxes to large shops.  He had a love of the outdoors – camping, hunting, but especially fishing.  He shared this love of the outdoors with his family.    He had a true love for his family.  Whether it was a camping trip, fishing, hunting, or a croquet game in the back yard, it was always with family.   He and Judy could always be found in the stands following their children playing volley ball, basketball, and watching drill team performances.   When the grandchildren and then great grandchildren came along, they could be found at school concerts, spelling bees and plays.  His grandchildren have many cherished memories of the wheel barrow rides in his back yard and the fishing trips he shared with them as well. 

Dick is survived by his three children; Camille (Steve) Mallett, Deb Allen, and Scott (Jamie) Allen; brother Bob Allen; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Judy; his parents and seven siblings.

Per Dick’s wishes, there will be a graveside service only.  The service will be November 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Filer Cemetery with Mike Parke officiating.
