Royce Eugene Abernathy, 83, a long time resident and business owner of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away Sunday March 13, 2022 at Brookdale Assisted Living surrounded by his wife and family. Royce was born December 20th, 1938 in Gooding Idaho to Devello and Donna Abernathy. He was raised in the Magic Valley, graduated in Gooding in 1957. He married the love of his life Rena Helderman September 16, 1960 in Gooding Idaho. Celebrating 61 years. Together they raised 2 daughters. Royce and his family spent many years camping and riding motorcycles with friends and family from the MVTMA. With his favorite camp spot at Pole Creek in the Sawtooth Mountains. His biggest achievement was his franchise H&R Block which he purchased in 1972. He worked long hours during tax season, spending the off-tax season building chain link fence for Sears, along with other business ventures in the Magic Valley. After 34 years with 7 offices, from the Wood River to the Magic Valley. He sold his franchise in 2006 to retire and travel with his wife Rena. They enjoyed Ashton, Idaho in the summer months and Lake Havesu and Parker, Arizona during the winter months. Some of their favorite passtimes during retirement were golfing, gambling and spending time with friends and family. They spent a month in Hawaii with their great friends Mike and Thea Cassairt. Dad was a great storyteller and kept current with all the “current information” he learned at the coffee shop. He was preceded in death by his parents Devello and Donna Abernathy, his brother Hale Abernathy and his two sisters Freda Steele and Lynn Elliott. He is survived by his wife Rena, daughters Carrie (Mick) Woodburn of Homedale, June (Jim) Buntin of Boise. Royce had 6 grandchildren, Amanda Wright of Boise, Kade Skeem of Twin Falls, Randalee Bowen of Homedale, Jamie Flanary of Boise, Stephanie Knutsen and Kacey Duncan both of Boise. 11 great grandchildren, Natalee, Lauren, Mackie, Amelia, Jaxon, Aniston, Rhett, Drew, Grayson, Presley and Taylor. Upon his death, Dad requested that there be no funeral and to be cremated, and his ahses be spread at his favorite camp spot on Pole Creek.
