Russell (Bud) Edward Sheridan, Jr, age 79, of Filer, Idaho, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019. Bud was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, on January 3, 1940, to Russell and Elvira Sheridan. He graduated from Filer High School and attended Northwest Nazarene College, until Uncle Sam called up his number. He joined the Army, where he spent most of his time at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to Idaho and married Joan Rynearson. Bud and Joan had two children, David Russell and Valeri Jo. In 1976, while working at Amalgamated Sugar Company, in Twin Falls, he met and married Libby Miller. They enjoyed 42 years together. Bud was a workaholic, but played hard when not at work, and loved the outdoors. He started out as a carpenter working for his dad and uncle, moving on to work for the Amalgamated Sugar Company, as a journeyman electrician and supervisor, in Nampa and Twin Falls for 30 years, where he eventually retired. During this time period, he farmed, hauled firewood, taught Sunday school and served in various capacities at his local church. He loved God and would do anything for anyone. He spent many years on the Filer City council and was Mayor of Filer. His final years he spent as site manager for the Filer Senior Haven Center. Bud was an active member of the Filer Kiwanis for many years. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Elvira Sheridan, his son, David, and his granddaughter, Amanda. He is survived by his wife, Libby Sheridan of Filer, daughter Valeri (Shane) Main of Graham, Washington, two brothers Charles (Linda) Sheridan, Lewiston, Idaho and Michael (Linda) Sheridan, Meridian, Idaho, one sister Patricia Sheridan, Twin Falls, Idaho, and two grandsons Drake Main and Shane Main, Jr, Seattle, Washington. There will be a viewing at Parkes Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Rd, Twin Falls, Idaho on Thursday, May 9th from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services are Friday, May 10th at the Filer Church of the Nazarene, 315 Yakima St, Filer, Idaho, at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Filer Cemetery.
