He started out farming while attending high school. After graduating from high school, he joined the military. The military was Scott’s longest career path with two years of active duty in the Air Force, four years in the Air Force National Guard, and seventeen years in the Army National Guard before his retirement in 1998 after twenty-two years of service. Scott worked in finance and selling insurance for some time and changed career paths. Scott started to work in the jail and prison systems setting up and fixing inmate phones throughout the state. He worked for the Idaho State Lottery and was instrumental in setting up their new machines. He had a few temporary contracts with the USDA that he really enjoyed and his last stop was at First Federal Savings Bank. He retired in 2017 and enjoyed fishing, golfing, going to estate sales, coffee with the guys a few days a week, a friendly smile, and a few jokes to anyone who would listen. Family and friends were everything to Scott. He would take his girls hunting with him when they were young and teach them to shoot pop cans at the end of the day. He also took the girls out fishing and let them drive the boat until one of the fishing lines got snagged on something. He and his family would go on numerous camping trips and vacations to see out-of-state relatives throughout the years as well. Scott enjoyed having friends stop by and stopping by at their houses and sharing memories from his colorful childhood. From his first speeding ticket at the age of 12, getting stuck in the Snake River Canyon in the middle of winter, to his epic dirt bike crashes that he lived to tell another day. He also had a good sense of humor and was always trying to pull pranks on anyone he could. Scott was a volunteer in many organizations over his life and was involved with groups in the outdoor community. He loved being on the water, in the mountains, and taking roads less traveled in the desert. He will be truly missed by everyone he came into contact with.
