Shana Bennett

November 3, 1940 — March 29, 2025

Hansen

Shana Kay Bennett of Hansen, ID passed away peacefully at the age of 84.

Shana was born in Twin Falls, ID, on November 3, 1940, to Charles and Anna Mae Thornton. She spent most of her childhood growing up on the family farm in the Hazelton-Eden area with her younger brother, Rod. She was active in her local 4-H group and participated by showing her prized dairy cow, Tina. After graduating from Valley High School, she attended Cliff-Mann Floral School in Denver, Colorado but returned to the Twin Falls area afterward. Shortly after she met her husband, Clarke Bennett, and they married on July 7th, 1961. Shana worked for several florists in the Magic Valley thriving in a career she truly enjoyed. Her love of flowers extended beyond the confines of a floral shop though, as she was always known for her beautiful garden beds around their home. Shana and Clarke soon started a family and were blessed with three children: Kim, Todd, and Jodi. Shana was a great mother to not only her biological children but anyone who needed a loving place to stay. Before Clarke’s passing in 2007, they spent many wonderful years raising their children to love all things nature, the outdoors, and animals. Lots and lots of animals.

Shana took great pleasure in making their house a home, inside and out. Both Shana and Clarke excelled at gardening and found joy in sharing their bounty with family and friends. Shana was the go-to family seamstress and shared her skills with the local 4-H group. She was always ready and willing to accompany her children and grandchildren to any school event or activity no matter how close or far she had to travel. Of all the many names and titles Shana ever held, being her grandchildren’s biggest supporter was one of her most cherished. She never batted an eye at sitting hours through a sporting event, theatre play, or ceremony. Though she loved her home in Idaho, she spent many wonderful days traveling with her youngest daughter and family to countless places she likely never dreamed of going. Shana has touched many lives throughout her years and will leave a lasting impression on anyone who had the fortune to know her.

Shana was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Mae Thornton, and her husband, Clarke. She is survived by her brother, Rod (Christine) Thornton of Hailey, ID, children, Kim (Greg) Goetz of Kimberly, ID, Todd (Kris) Bennett of Twin Falls, ID and Jodi (John) Knuff of Redding, CT. Grandchildren, Cheynce (Tessa) Bennett, Kaitlyn and Justin Goetz, and Brady, Daschel, and Sara Knuff. As well as two great-grandchildren, Aspen and Oakley Bennett.

The family would like to thank DeSano Place Village for their care of Shana over the past few years.
