Sylvia Eileen (Becker) Goetz 1946 – 2021 Sylvia Goetz, passed away August 28, 2021 in her home in Kimberly, Idaho. She was 75. Born on June 4, 1946 to Elwood and Nita Becker of Jerome, Idaho, Sylvia was a farm girl from beginning to end. She dearly loved growing an expansive, annual garden and caring for all manner of animals with a special love for cats. She was proud of the fruit trees she abundantly planted around the farmhouse home in which she happily raised her family. Educating business school in Twin Falls, Sylvia managed Goetz Tractor Service for 43 years with her loving husband, Wayne Goetz. She contributed deeply to her community as a member of the Presbyterian Church in Jerome, as well as through seven years as a teacher of special education. In recognition of those who served our country, she also served as a member of the Magic Valley Honor Guard for 21 years and volunteered at the Rock Creek Veterans Cemetery. Sylvia was never a person with idle hands and when not busy in the community, she loved to read and crochet; thoughtfully donating handmade Afghan blankets to several charitable causes including patients with Alzheimer’s disease, Loads of Love and many other collection sites for those in need. She was happy spending summers camping with her children and grandchildren. As a wonderful cook and baker, those who knew her were often fortunate enough to receive homemade baked goods with ingredients straight from the garden and orchard. Sylvia won an award for her Cherry Berry Pie at the local fair after reluctantly being convinced to enter. She was never someone who sought recognition or accolades for her skills or generosity. Instead, she was happiest when surrounded by family; particularly at Christmas time. Sylvia passed away under the shade of the tall trees she planted around her beloved farmhouse. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wayne, her sons Jerry (Carolyn) Goetz and Greg (Janne) Goetz, daughter, Rachel (Alan) Ills, her four grandchildren, Caitlyn, Cheyenne, Cameron and Mallory. Also surviving are her two brothers, Ted Becker and Jon Becker. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all. In lieu of funeral service or flowers, please consider a donation to the Rock Creek Veterans Cemetery to be used in planting trees to offer shade and peace to the place where she worked so hard for many years. God Bless America!
