Sylvia Lois Hodge, born Sylvia Lois Rudzik on February 12, 1938, in Evergreen Park, IL, bid farewell to this world on May 30, 2024, in Buhl, ID. She left behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.


Sylvia's journey through life was adorned with various chapters of hard work and dedication. Starting as a cashier at Alpa Beta Grocery and later venturing into running a Video Store in Montana, her career eventually led her to establish successful business collaborating with Law Enforcement to set up house arrest monitoring systems with the State courts.


Beyond her professional endeavors, Sylvia will be remembered for her selfless nature and unwavering kindness towards others. She always put her children first and opened her heart to all who crossed her path. Her warm demeanor made everyone feel welcomed in her presence.


A woman of diverse interests, Sylvia found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She adored animals, loved to dance, and had a penchant for reading mystery novels by authors like David Baldacci. Her love for Murder Mystery and Who Done it Books reflected her fascination with intricate storytelling. Additionally, she enjoyed indulging in War movies and Westerns, relishing the excitement they brought. Sylvia's adventurous spirit led her to explore the outdoors through activities like hiking, camping, and uncovering the histories of old mining towns. In quieter moments, she found solace in pursuits like Cross Stitching, drawing, and solving Word Search Puzzles.


Sylvia's positive outlook on life and exceptional sense of humor endeared her to many. To some fortunate individuals, she played the role of a mentor—a guiding light who inspired others through both words and actions.


In her close-knit circle of family and friends, Sylvia leaves behind cherished memories that will be held dear. She is survived by her son David Salvatore Vilardo; daughter Linda Marie Vilardo; stepson Joe Vilardo; grandson Anthony Vilardo; granddaughter Melissa Marie Cummins;  brother Joel Rudzik; sister-in-law Jan Rudzik; as well as close friends  Debbie Tolhurst, Francis Batchelder, Ron & Shelley and their families.

Preceded by death, James Hodge; hushand, Marcia Kathleen Hodge; Daughter, Stephen Rudzik; Father, Antonia Cecilia Rudzik; Mother. John Sanders; close friend, Lee Emerson; close friend.


Sylvia Hodge peacefully passed away at home surrounded by love and comfort. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing this remarkable woman.
