Tanner Roy was 16 years young when he became the Final Boss of his own life story on July 12, 2021. Tanner was born on Presidents' Day on February 21st, 2005, to the joy of his mom Kim. He was introduced later on that day to his sisters, Kylie (KieKie) and Madi. Gavin was born years later, to the surprise of all. Though Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy was one aspect of Tanner’s life, it did not define who he was or what he did. He had many other parts of his life that were much more important to him. He loved spending time with his family, including the trip he took with Make a Wish to Disney World and Universal in Florida. His oldest sister, who he called KieKie, was like his second mother, caring for him and sharing precious memories. He shared a room with his younger brother, Gavin, who’s outer exuberance mirrored that of Tanner’s mind. People loved Tanner so much that he even had a Bonus Dad, Bruce, who shared a special bond with him. He loved spending time with his Grandma, LaVonne, who he shared some deep, immersive conversations with. He attended 8 years of camp with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. MDA Summer Camp is a magical place where anything is possible, where each summer, thousands of kids (including Tanner!) attend this life-changing, overnight week-long camp. His favorite camp counselor was Brendon, who awarded Tanner with the “Craziest Imagination” award during his fun in the 2017 MDA summer camp. As a young child, his family was heavily involved in Live-Action Role Playing Where he was known as Potatoes O’Malley, or as his sister called him, “wee little potatoes!” He was the King of all the Nerds, attending the very first ComicCon in Salt Lake City, and even got to meet the author and illustrator of the Adventure Time Comic series! His favorite past-time was indicative of someone of his generation, streaming everything on Youtube and Netflix. His favorite streamers are DanTDM, CaptainSparklez and GameGrumps, spending hours watching Minecraft videos. His Netflix interests were wide ranged, watching everything from Monty Python to Avatar to documentaries on every subject. If anyone had a question about history or dinosaurs or any interesting fact, Tanner would have the answer in the punniest way possible. Tanner will always live on in the memory of his parents, brother and sisters, grandparents (Robert, LaVonne, Virginia and Milton, and Brent), great-grandparents, his bonus dad Bruce, and all family and friends who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 2 P.M. at Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home 2251 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls, ID 83301 for all who wish to share memories together with the family.
