Tommy Otis Russell, age 95, of Boise, Idaho, passed away at his Boise home surrounded by his family on August 12, 2023. He was a honest, hard, working man with a great sense of humor. He worked long hours farming and working at the sugar factory to provide for his family. His mom Fanny, took the train to Springdale, Arkansas. Where Fanny’s parents, Sadie and Estil Cardwell lived. Tommy was born in their home Feb 7th 1928. Fanny and Tommy went back to Cooper, Texas approximately 10 days later after Tommy was born. Tommy lived in Cooper with his family from 1928-1936. Tommy’s parents Fanny and Otis and Siblings came to Twin Falls, Idaho in 1936 in a 1928 Roadster Buick. This is where Tommy grew up near Shoshone Falls. As he grew up and still living at home, he farmed with his dad Otis. Tommy met Joan and married February 9th 1949. They continued to farm with Otis. In 1951 they rented a farm South of Hansen and farmed there for 21 years. Diana, Terry, Connie and Dave where born while on the farm South of Hansen until they grew up and graduated from Hansen High School. Tommy and Joan moved to Kimberly rural area in 1971-1992 when he retired and moved to the City of Kimberly were they enjoyed Snow Birding to Quartzite and Parker Arizona in the Winter. They met new people that remained good friends. Tommy’s whole life was farming but he enjoyed fishing, yard work, doing projects around the house, and wood working. For 15 years he enjoyed working with Frank and Chuck Newberry raking hay and helping them get from job site to job site. He was friends to many and many loved him. He will be missed. He is survived by his daughters Terry and Connie(Jim) of Boise, ID. Son, David(Sarah) of Boise, ID. He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren, Cory, Lacey, Brady, Brianna and Andy and 3 Great Grandchildren, Ethan, Mason and Sawyer. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan and daughter Diana.
