Tyler Jay Osterhout passed away on March 18, 2025, in Twin Falls, Idaho, at 51.
Born on March 29, 1973, in Rupert, Idaho, his life was filled with laughter, stories, and love for his family and friends.
Although his family changed and grew throughout the years, Tyler always cherished his time with his parents, Deana Lee Hite and Jay Leon Osterhout, and his sister, Tausha (Ruben). He would later enjoy the company of his half-brother, Jeremy, his stepfather, Roy, and his stepsiblings, Dusty (Chrissy), Sabrina, and Mandy.
Tyler graduated from the Marsing Job Corps, where he earned his high school equivalency and a nursing degree.
Over the years, Tyler developed a strong commitment to his faith. He was baptized at Cornerstone Baptist Church, an event which marked the beginning of his journey with his lord and savior. He would continue to learn more and grow closer to God throughout his life.
Tyler could usually be found restoring his beloved Ford truck in quieter moments. He was meticulous in perfecting each detail, always taking pride in his work.
Later in life, Tyler married Cathy Cantu. The pair spent several years together before they divorced.
Through this union, Tyler was blessed with his children Izzac and Alyssa. Remembering his father, Izzac writes:
“As a child, my biggest memories of my dad were of him being a provider. He made things happen for our family. He worked a lot, but what made him happy was seeing us taken care of. He loved to cook and eat. Let me tell you, when he was cooking, you would never be disappointed.
He was a one-of-a-kind man, and he taught me what it meant to be a man and that no matter how upset you get, how to treat a woman. He had a passion for vehicles, whether it be fixing them, driving them, or burning the tires off them.
He was the funniest person in the room, no matter who was in the room. He always knew how to make people laugh, whether it was with his stories or just his witty, smart-ass remarks.
He was also one of, if not the smartest person I know, especially when it came to technology. He never failed to amaze me with how much knowledge he held in his head.
All I know is I love you and I will forever miss you, Dad. I will not stop making you proud.”
The Osterhout family would like to extend special thanks to all the family and friends who have reached out with their support and memories of Tyler.
Tyler is preceded in death by his parents, Deana Lee Hite and Jay Leon Osterhout.
Tyler is survived by his stepfather, Roy Hite; sisters Tausha (Ruben) Vela and Sabrina Osterhout; half-brother Jeremy Osterhout; stepsiblings Dusty (Chrissy) Hite and Mandy Fogg; children Izzac (Donnin) Osterhout and Alyssa Romero; granddaughters Jeslynn and Sophia Cruz; grandson Kyesin Osterhout; and many nieces and nephews.
