Vaudis Jenkins, age 87 of Jerome, Idaho passed away at Creekside Residential Care Center in Jerome, Idaho, Saturday May 2, 2020. Vaudis was born November 24, 1932 in Bancroft, Idaho, the daughter of George Moroni & Alta Lovenia Gooch Jenkins. She grew up with her brothers, Max and Jay Dell, and her sister, Janice. As a young woman, Vaudis met and married a young soldier by the name of Reed Hansen Burke. They were married June 6, 1949 in Logan, Utah, after WWII and they were blessed with 4 children, Janette, Evelyn, Gordon and Randy. They later divorced. Tragedy struck the family in May 1977 when their son Gordon passed from injuries sustained in a car-pedestrian accident. Vaudis was a wonderful wife and mother, honest and hardworking. She was always full of joy and laughter and brought pride to her family. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed traveling, swimming, dancing and singing. She enjoyed gardening and watering her flowers. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was known to her family and friends as fiscally responsible and frugal. If she went shopping and didn’t have the money for certain items, they stayed on the shelf. She was adored by her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Vaudis was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alta; her son, Gordon; her ex-husband, Reed Burke; her brothers, Max Jenkins and Jay Dell Jenkins. Surviving Vaudis are her daughters, Jeanette Tharp of Dewey, AZ, and Evelyn Lewis of Meridian, ID; son, Randy Jenkins of Jerome, ID; Sister, Janice Stephenson of St. George, UT, and 3 grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Vaudis Jenkins will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2020 from 12:00 -1:00 P.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home with Funeral Services for Vaudis being held at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at the Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn, ID. All services and arrangements are under the direction of Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls, Idaho.
