We regretfully announce the passing of Ventura C. Salinas. He went home to be with Jesus on August 6th, 2021 at age 64. Ventura was born to Manuel Sr. and Bertha Salinas on September 5th, 1956 in Laredo Texas. Ventura was diagnosed with scoliosis at birth, which made his childhood look different than most, but he overcame and lived far beyond the doctors expectations. After learning to walk it was not long that he discovered his love to run and be free. He enjoyed playing with marbles and riding his favorite tricycle. Ventura grew up around mechanics and was so eager to learn, He was not afraid of getting his hands dirty as well as never letting the books sit around long enough to collect dust. He was hungry for wisdom. An independent and vibrant personality from the beginning, Ventura was an excellent student and later became a voice for his community. Ventura was the first to graduate high school in his family at Twin Falls high school and immediately went on to attend Boise State University and the College of Southern Idaho . Ventura owned 2 motorcycles, a Kawasaki and Yamaha, and was known to take long rides to the coast. He worked many hours in the fields and saved up to buy his own truck. He would haul hay and potatoes with other Salinas family members. He later worked as a black jack dealer at Cactus Pete's and loved to play cards. Ventura was a very deep thinker and thought outside the box most often. Later when his community would need his wisdom, knowledge and ability to translate Spanish to English he would exercise the large voice he was given to serve a great cause. Ventura used that voice and left an impact on the community by standing up for hundreds of South Park occupants who needed assistance with concerns such as additional stop signs throughout the neighborhood and dangerous ditches that needed covered up. He contributed over and over again. Ventura was a very big part of the migrant council and assisted in strengthening the South Park Colonia de Colores foundation. Ventura worked in the court system interpreting for Lawyers & Attorneys, he also worked for a Workmans Comp Attorney in Hailey as an interpreter for people that would get injured in Dairy's and Farms. In addition to being a dedicated and loving man, Ventura also loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. Though Ventura was barely 5ft tall he had a very BIG sense of humor and would trick the young ones with the "PULL MY FINGER" joke. He loved picking on his only sister Mary and would tell other hilarious and not so hilarious puns. He was always smiling and not afraid to tell the girls that they were beautiful. A romantic at heart he loved bigger than some 7 foot tall men. Ventura will be greatly missed. Until we meet again on the streets paved with gold, enjoy the baddest 1961 Chevy Impala SS in Heaven. We love you Tio. Ventura is survived by his father and mother Manuel Sr. and Bertha Salinas as well as brothers Manuel Jr., Sergio, Genaro and sister Mary. His nephews Pablo, Artemio, Alberto, Max, Sebastian and nieces Vanessa, Adriana, Jessica, Samantha and "son" Caleb. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
