Vera Young

Vera Nadine Goodman Young was born on January 1, 1924 in Red Wing, Kansas. She died on January 13, 2021 in Twin Falls of Cancers. Her parents were Elsie Russell Goodman and Walter Goodman. The family moved to Twin Falls in 1925. She attended schools in Twin Falls and graduated from the Twin Falls High School in 1942. After graduating she went to work for the government in Las Vegas, Nevada. She married and had two daughters Bonnie and Dixie. In 1949, she married Richard Dudley Young and had three more children, Scot Young, R. Russell Young and Carmen Young. Vera was a life long member of the First Christian Church in Twin Falls. She was also a member of the Magic Valley Toastmistresses. Vera enjoyed square dancing with the Magic Valley Singles and the Buttons and Bows Square Dance Groups. She just retired from square dancing a couple years ago. She worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and nanny. Most of her life she was a wonderful mother and stay at home mom. Vera also enjoyed traveling, painting and quilting for fun. She always entered Baked Goods in the County Fair, many times taking First Prize. She is survived by her daughters; Bonnie McDowell of Jerome, Dixie Farnsworth [John] of Bend, Oregon, and Carmen Miller of Twin Falls; and Son Scot Young of Idaho Falls. 13 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Iris Burkhalter, brother Lynn Goodman, husband Richard Young, and son R. Russell Young. The family would like to thank the nurses and helpers of Idaho Home Health, especially Grace. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 18, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Rd. Twin Falls.
