Vieno S. Foster, 92, of Buhl, Idaho, passed away May 27, 2019. Vieno Huhtala was born in Sandpoint, Idaho on September 18, 1926 to Emil and Julia Huhtala. She grew up in Cabinet, Clark Fork, and Sandpoint, Idaho. On June 23, 1944 she married the love of her life Leland Foster and over the next few years they had three children; Jerry, Sheryl, and Darryl, while living in Clark Fork on a cattle ranch. She helped her husband with farming in Clark Fork and King Hill, Idaho. She also worked in the Clark Fork Post Office and at Hershel’s Light House in Hope, Idaho. In 1960 the family moved to Toledo, Washington where Leland worked in construction on hydro electric dams. In 1972 Vieno and Leland went to Iran for the next 4 years working on hydro electric projects. During this time they traveled all over the Middle East, they also went to Finland, Norway, and the Far East. After Iran, they moved to Vera Cruz, Mexico for 2 years. They returned to Buhl in 1979 and built their home and continued traveling, touring 40 countries on 4 continents. Vieno was preceded in death by her husband Leland Foster, and her daughter Sheryl (19 days earlier on May 8, 2019). She was also preceded by her parents, her brother, and her sister. She is survived by her sons Jerry and Darryl, 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. She always said she lived the most wonderful life.
