Viola Murphy Hackworth Scott was born on March 23, 1933 in Burrell Nebraska to James Vinson Murphy and Constance Mildred Benjamin. She was the youngest of their five children.
At the age of nine, she and her parents moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where she resided until her death at the age of 91.
She married twice. First to Charles Hackworth in 1952; they later divorced. In 1974 she married Donald E. Scott. Together they were one another’s best friend until his death in 2001.
For many years she worked at Twin Falls Bank and Trust. Later as a bookkeeper for various businesses in town. Her final employment was at the Twin Falls senior center.
She was known for her delightful sense of humor. She loved playing jokes and making people laugh. An avid gardener, who loved nature, travel, and the many fur babies who were part of her long life. They were so very lucky to have her as their ‘mom’. An extremely intelligent woman who was always expanding her knowledge through reading and research.
She had no children, but always shared her time, attention, and love with her three nieces, one of whom, Kathy Murphy Priest Guard, preceded her in death. She is survived by Connie Murphy Sexton of Fallon Nevada and Marie Tetschner Clayburn of Flagstaff Arizona.
She died due to complications of Alzheimer’s on May 12, 2024 at Ashley Manor resident home in Twin Falls. Viola is interred at Filer Cemetery.
